My name is Daisy Marino. I am a 4th grade teacher at Warren Elementary and campus Technology Mentor. I am currently working on my Masters in Educational Technology as well as my principal’s certificate. Recently, I have had the privilege to be a part of Remind’s Teacher Advisory Board. Up until two years ago I barely utilized technology into my class’s daily routine. Now, I use it every SINGLE day. What happened? First, I was invited to tour a school in Houston, Texas that was implementing technology into their classrooms in ways that I never could have imagined. I left there that day a different teacher. My eyes were opened. These students were actively engaged. They were thriving. Most importantly, they were learning. I wanted my classroom to look like that. Secondly, Twitter happened. WHAAATT?? Yes, I was forced beyond my will to create a Twitter account. They said it was the best professional development ever. They said I would connect with other educators in ways that I could not imagine. They said it would make me a better teacher. They were right. Twitter has endless possibilities. I connect daily with like-minded educators from all over the world. These teachers are innovative, they are doing amazing things in their classroom, but most importantly they are sharing. And I LOVE it. I hope that you will follow me on my journey of implementing technology in my classroom and staying connected. I also hope that you will share some ideas with me!
My favorite tech tools for my class: Remind 101, Augmented Reality, Kidblog, Educreations, Write about This, QR codes, Prezi, Haiku Deck, Diptic, ThingLink, Popplet, TouchCast, Google ANYTHING, Book Creator, TinyScan, and of course….TWITTER!
